The Role
This person would be responsible for the profitable Commercial Lines portfolio in Hong Kong, with a strong focus on new business develop and renewals.Key focus areas on D&O, PI, Financial Institutions, Combined General Liability and Products Liability.This role is an underwriting position and includes responsibility for underwriting, marketing and managing key distribution partners and it comes with business goals on premium and profitability.Priority distribution would be Marsh, Aon, Willis, Salus, Lockton, Howden, and Nova.This position will also work closely with other underwriting departments to execute a successful and profitable business portfolio in North Asia markets, particularly the Greater China (including the Greater Bay Area)Key Responsibilities
Support Head of Commercial Lines - Greater China on renewal and new business underwritingGive direction and support to business support colleagues as required.Support underwriting management on product development from wording to market release.Active in the market in terms of profile, seeking out new business opportunities that are aligned with our distribution strategySupport underwriting management to develop underwriting manual/playbookWork closely with claims department to support the business and our partnersWork with shared services teams to ensure systems requirements are specified and business needs are being met.
Work with finance and business support to ensure reporting requirements and put in place and ongoing management reports are established to monitor portfolio performance.
Continually seek ways to innovate, improve organizational efficiency, effectiveness and profitabilityParticipate in relevant professional organizations as a representative of the companyPerform additional duties as assigned by senior management teamEnsure excellent service standards including quality of underwriting and timely responses which meet or exceed company standards.Ensures that budget goals are met in terms of revenue and expensesParticipates in trainings, goal setting, planning and executive decision-makingExpanding and managing business partner network in Hong Kong, Greater Bay Area and Taiwan.
The Candidate - Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Bachelor's Degree5 years of Insurance industry experience in underwriting and/or broking in Financial Lines and/or CasualtyStrong distribution relationships and market knowledge of Hong Kong, Greater Bay Area, and Taiwan.
Ability to work independently, combine entrepreneurial, commercial approach with prudent underwriting Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees, peers, management and our partnersAbility to negotiate and/or approve insurance quotationsExcellent written and verbal communications skills including speaking and writing English, Mandarin and CantoneseOperation of Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and all standard business computer programsWillingness to travel to the Greater Bay Area and Taiwan for business sourcing/marketing.Desired:
Master's degree in finance, Business Manager or other related subjectsStrong team spiritSelf-disciplinedExcellent time management and multitasking skills
