The Office of the Dean of Science is inviting applications from highly qualified candidates for the position of Senior Manager (Strategic Initiatives & Project Management).
Working closely with the Executive Director (Strategic Initiatives), the successful candidate will be instrumental in planning and implementing major initiatives in the biomedical area for the long-term strategic development of the University.
We are looking for a candidate with a proven track record in supporting the management of complex projects, exceptional communication and organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively within dynamic, cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement and manage comprehensive project plans for major strategic initiatives, including timelines, milestones, resources and deliverables.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and coordination of activities, proactively resolving bottlenecks to facilitate smooth project delivery.Identify potential risks and develop effective mitigation strategies throughout the project life cycle.Monitor project progress, prepare regular status reports, and present updates to senior leadership and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability in all project activities.Maintain proper documentation and records and contribute to ongoing improvements and standardisation of project management processes and procedures.Actively participate in project activities, as required, to support implementation of the major initiatives.
Mentor and manage junior team members, to foster a collaborative and innovative work environment in pursuit of achieving the University’s goals.Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.Requirements
The ideal candidate should possess:
A bachelor’s degree, with a minimum of 8-10 years of post-qualification work experience in project management or a related area, preferably in a sizeable organisation or tertiary institution.
A relevant master’s degree is highly advantageous.In-depth understanding of project management principles, methodologies and tools, with extensive experience of complex projects.Exceptional planning, organisational, time-management and problem-solving skills, with a strong sense of priorities and responsibility, coupled with excellent analytical skills, foresight, judgement, and self-initiative.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver quality work under tight schedules.Capacity to work both independently and across different teams on multiple tasks.Proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua).Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in project management software and other relevant IT applications.Experience in budget management and resource allocation is an asset.Knowledge of educational policies and practices within higher education is preferred.Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
