Responsibilities
•Carry out daily operations of research computing facilities, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning
• Manage user accounts, providing access to HPC resources while ensuring compliance with policies and regulations
• Monitor and control appropriate access rights to HPC resources continuously
• Implement robust data backup strategies to ensure the integrity and availability of research data
• Track and manage HPC hardware and software assets, ensuring accurate inventory records
• Perform regular health checks on all systems to preemptively identify, resolve or escalate issues
• Provide support to researchers, students and other users of the HPC systems
• Assist users with job submission, scheduling and optimisation
• Provide support to users in software installation and configuration
• May be required to work in shifts and irregular hours
• Perform any other duties as requested by supervisor(s)
Requirements
• A recognized Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related disciplines
• At least 3 years of relevant working experience
• Proven experience in managing high-performance computing (HPC) environments
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix operating systems
• Familiarity with HPC job schedulers ( SLURM, PBS and Grid Engine)
• A good knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Awk and Perl
• Solid experience in account provisioning environment that integrate between Microsoft Active Directory and Linux/Unix systems
• Experience with data backup and recovery solutions
• Experience with inventory management tools and practices
• Strong understanding of user account management and access rights control
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to provide effective user support
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
