The Group Strategy function plays a critical role in shaping the long-term direction and success of the Organisation.
Its primary objectives are to (a) support the Group Board and Group Executive Team to define the company’s strategic vision, ambition and corporate strategy, (b) identify growth opportunities that will strengthen the Group’s market position and long-term profitability and (c) ensure alignment across Local Business Units and Strategic Pillars, Enablers and Functions.
The Group Strategy Team helps the Leadership team in making informed decisions on business models, investments and resource allocation, through strategic analyses and thought leadership.
It also enables the development and execution of the strategic agenda.
As a Senior Director within the Strategy Team, your role will be highly influential, requiring a mix of strategic thinking, analytical rigor and executive presence to drive the development of the company’s strategy.
The role reports to the Group Director, Strategy.
Job Responsibilities
Strategy development
Influence, shape and contribute to the development of the Group Strategy with Group Strategy Director and C-Suite.Support and / or lead specific high-priority and high-impact workstreams and/or strategic initiatives the Group Strategy refresh, coordinating inputs from multiple stakeholders to distil into strategic options and recommendations.Contribute to the Team’s thought leadership by distilling emerging trends, disruptions, and competitive threats and evaluate new business modelsPartner with key stakeholders (Strategic pillars and enablers, Key Group Functions, Regional CEOs, and Local Business Units) to align corporate strategy with operational executionCommunicate strategy to internal teams to ensure continuous alignment and buy-inPrepare clear and structured briefings and documents for the Board and the Group Executive TeamStrategic Planning
Support the annual strategic planning process, including market analysis, competitor benchmarking, and scenario planningBusiness & Competitive Analysis
Conduct deep market/industry analysis (e.g. growth opportunities, competitive positioning, macroeconomic trends)Provide insights on industry innovations and steer competitive intelligence work to inform strategic decision-makingStrategic Projects & Execution
Collaborate with Group Transformation to track the progress of strategy implementation and correct course as neededLead ah-hoc strategy projects and recurring strategy reviewsBuilding capabilities
Mentor & develop junior strategy team membersPromote a data-driven and analytical culture within the organisationJob Requirements:
15+ years of progressive and relevant experience in strategy, business planning, consulting and related fields, gained from top-tier management consulting firms and/or internal strategy teams.
A combination of both experiences would be ideal.Industry-specific experience and deep understanding of Life insurance is highly valuedProven track-record of leading high-impact strategic initiativesStrategic thinking, ability to synthesize complex data and trends into clear executable recommendationsStrong analytical and quantitative skills, with capability to connect market trends and internal data with strategic implicationsStrong executive presence, outstanding and engaging written and verbal communication skills, coupled with ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teamsEducational background in Business Strategy, Finance, Economics or related fields; MBA or equivalent is a plus
