Relationship Manager, South Korea

Vontobel is currently seeking a Relationship Manager to support our multi-boutique growth strategy in the South Korean market with a secondary focus on Hong Kong.

This role is based in Hong Kong.

Reporting to the Country Sales Head of South Korea, the role will be responsible for marketing and selling Vontobel’s broad array of strategies across the full range of our investment boutiques as well as client services to current and potential clients in South Korea.

The role requires sales and relationship management skills as well as in-depth investment and client services knowledge, alongside existing institutional relationships and partnership experience.

The successful applicant, will be an independent self-starter with experience building strong relationships.

Main Responsibilities:

• Implement and support Vontobel’s sales strategy and business plan in South Korea with a secondary focus on supporting Hong Kong.
• Drive sales of Vontobel’s equity, fixed income, multi-asset, and infrastructure products to institutional clients and intermediaries, including official institutions, pensions, insurance firms, asset managers, securities firms, and commercial banks.
• Maintain and nurture existing client relationships, working with client services professionals to ensure best in class client experiences.
• Identify and coordinate events and sponsorship opportunities to elevate Vontobel’s brand in Korea and Hong Kong.
• Work closely with the broader Asia Pacific team to advance the regional business plan.
• Coordinate with Client Portfolio Managers, and Investment team members to fully develop all opportunities in the region and help implement best practices at the firm.
• Provide constructive feedback on strategies, market / industry trends and best practices to management, sales and investment management teams.
• Engage internally across the organization to partner with the product, marketing and investment resources of the firm to address the needs of our clients.
• Build positive relationships across the broader global sales organization, investment communications, operations, legal, compliance and other internal teams critical to the end-to-end client lifecycle.

What are we looking for?

• Relationship Manager with proven track record in client acquisition with 10-15 years of asset management sales experience, in particular with institutional clients in South Korea.
• Strong local language expertise with relationships with key stakeholders in South Korea Sovereigns, Insurers, Asset Managers, Banks and other distributors, able to hit the ground running.
  
  Experience working with Hong Kong intermediaries and institutions would be a plus.
• Experience providing client service and sales support to regional teams.
• Established in-country network covering sovereigns, insurers, asset managers, banks and other distributors
• Deep experience marketing both public fixed income and equity as well as private market asset classes in Korea with strong technical skills and a deep understanding of Korean regulations on sales and marketing.
• Independent, entrepreneurial, client-focused mindset with strong drive and ambition to establish and grow the firm’s business in the Korean market.
