The Department of Curriculum and Instruction of the Faculty of Education at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is a dynamic centre in the Asia-Pacific region for teaching and research in the broad areas of curriculum and instruction.
In addition to Faculty-based undergraduate teacher education, Postgraduate Diploma in Education, Master of Education, Doctor of Education and PhD programmes, the Department offers several Master of Arts / Science programmes as well as research supervision across a range of subject areas.
The Department invites applications for full-time appointment as Professor/ Associate Professor/ Assistant Professor in Mathematics Education.
Applicants should have (a) excellent academic qualifications including a relevant doctoral degree; (b) a demonstrated track record of active research and publications in mathematics education which are world-leading and internationally excellent; and (c) a strong commitment to excellence in teaching mathematics and STEM education, with experience in using emerging tools and pedagogies (e.g. integrating artificial intelligence in higher education and K-12 education contexts).
Research, professional and service experience in the field locally and in neighbouring communities (e.g., the Greater Bay Area) are added advantages.
Applicants for the appointment as Professor / Associate Professor are expected to have an established programme of research, a strong record of publications, as well as a track record of success in obtaining competitive research grants, invitations to speak at major international academic meetings, and supervision of research postgraduate students.
The appointee will be expected to (a) teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels (areas include foundations of mathematics curriculum and instruction, pedagogical content knowledge in various mathematical domains, and contemporary theories and research methods for mathematics education research); (b) undertake scholarly research and seek external competitive research grants; (c) supervise graduate students; (d) conduct teaching practicum supervision; and (e) lead programme development and innovations in teaching and learning.
