Description

The Gerald Choa Neuroscience Institute (GCNI) and The School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) are seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Associate to join the multidisciplinary neuroscience research team of Prof.

Hovy Wong.

Broadly speaking, the laboratory focuses on RNA regulation of brain circuit formation, maintenance, and plasticity in health and disease ().

Cutting-edge topics and methods include local mRNA translation, presynaptic/axon dynamics, synaptic plasticity, 2-photon optogenetics/imaging/microsurgery and quadruple whole-cell recordings.

Applicants should have (i) a PhD in life science discipline; (ii) a keen interest in breaking new ground in neuroscience; (iii) a track record of high-quality research publications; (iv) experienced with electrophysiology and/or advanced imaging techniques; (v) excellent communication, organisational and teamwork skills; and (vi) proficiency in written and spoken English (Chinese proficiency is a plus but not necessary).

Applicants with a good command of molecular biology, neuroscience, bioinformatics, whole-cell electrophysiology and/or microscopy optics are particularly a great asset to the team.


Duties include (a) performing experiments and analysis; (b) presenting data at conferences; (c) writing manuscripts; (d) assisting project report and research document preparation; (e) training other members of the team; and (f) performing other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
