At present, the University manages over 4,500 hall places for undergraduate students and close to 1,500 places for postgraduate students on campus.
It also manages off-campus housing such as over 500 beds in Tseung Kwan O hostel and operates a service to help students arrange their own housing.
A further 1,500 additional hall places would also be made available on-campus by phase.
Reporting to the Head of Student Housing, the appointee will be responsible for overseeing the operation of both on-campus and off-campus student accommodations.
Duties include daily management of student accommodations; admitting students to the student halls; liaising with other University offices, vendors, and contractors on all premises-related matters; handling incidents and emergencies; contributing to enhance the overall learning experience of students in the halls; overseeing recapitalization projects; and performing any other job-related duties as assigned by the Head or his/her delegates.
The appointee will be the key administrator of the office and will also need to supervise a team of operational and ancillary staff in carrying out tasks and delivering services.
There will be significant liaison work with internal departments, students, commercial vendors, and contractors.
Working outside normal office hours may be required.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have a recognized degree and at least 7 years of relevant post-qualification work experience.
Good interpersonal and management skills are required.
Experience in student housing management at HKUST or other institutions, or hands-on experience in property management or housekeeping, will be advantageous.

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
