Job description

The Head of Compliance, Asia Wealth and Asset Management, will be responsible for overseeing and managing the compliance functions across all countries in Asia where Manulife’s wealth and asset management businesses operate.

The individual will ensure that the company adheres to all regulatory requirements and internal policies, promoting a culture of integrity and ethical behavior throughout the organization.

Manulife Wealth and Asset Management operates in Mainland China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Vietnam.

Manulife's operations in these countries encompass a range of services including retirement solutions, and wealth and asset management.
 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the compliance strategy for Manulife’s wealth and asset management businesses across Asia.

    Collaborate with global compliance teams to ensure alignment with Manulife’s overall compliance framework.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and interpret regulatory developments across Asia and ensure timely and effective implementation of changes.

    Develop, maintain, and oversee the implementation of compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to local and international regulations.

    Identify, assess, and manage compliance risks related to the wealth and asset management businesses.

    Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and controls.

  • Training and Awareness: Lead the development and delivery of compliance training programs to educate employees on regulatory requirements, internal policies, and ethical standards.

    Promote a culture of compliance and ethical behavior throughout the organization.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Oversee compliance monitoring programs to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.

    Prepare and present regular compliance reports to senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Incident Management and Resolution: Lead investigations into compliance breaches and ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken.

    Maintain robust mechanisms for reporting and addressing compliance concerns.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, industry bodies, and internal stakeholders.

    Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory inquiries and examinations.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a high-performing compliance team across multiple jurisdictions.

    Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment that supports professional growth and development.
  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in compliance, with a significant portion in the asset management industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements across multiple Asian jurisdictions.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing compliance programs in a multinational organization.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to lead a diverse team.
  • Confidence, maturity, and credibility to deliver and present to Senior Executive leadership and business unit leadership teams.
  • Ability to foster and build relationships, engage, and influence others, work with diverse subject matter experts.

    Flexible and adaptable when dealing with change with a strong awareness and understanding of cultural diversity.
