The School now seeks to appoint a high calibre candidate to the position of Functional Manager (carrying the job title of ‘Assistant Director (Central Academic and Administration)’).
Reporting to the Administrative Director of the Office of MBA Programme (“Office”), the appointee will focus on leading, managing and overseeing the Central Academic and Administration (“CAA”) Team in three two key functional blocks, i.e. (1) Academic Administration (AA), including faculty teaching supports and administration affairs, and ranking, accreditation and quality assurance, (2) Central Administration, including office and resources management as well as planning (collectively named as “central academic and administration”).
The goal is to maintain professional office planning and management, assure surpassing expectations of students and faculty as well as achieve high satisfaction of these stakeholders, which will be measured quantitatively and qualitatively by various student and faculty surveys, and rated by global ranking exercises.
The appointee will be responsible to:
(a)lead and oversee the CAA Team to plan, develop and implement academic and administrative measures and initiatives to attain the highest level of professionalism with dedication, and to achieve quantitatively all key performance indicators and qualitatively by expected quality of leadership and administration;
(b) lead the team to provide professional supports to faculty members and students on their teaching and learning in collaboration with other teams in the Office as well as in the School and University;
(c)partner with students to foster class bonding and high student engagement for overall satisfaction throughout their learning journey;
(d)assist in overseeing resources and talent management of the Office, including business and financial planning and monitoring, human resources and office space management, devise and implement ranking and accreditation strategies;
(e)serve as secretary and/or a member of the Programme related Committees/ Boards;
(f)collaborate with other teams in the Office in development and management of admission, communications, stakeholder engagement, and student development, including LEAP schemes, events and activities, etc.; and
(g)take up other impromptu duties as assigned.
Working at flexible hours, including weekends, and occasional business travelling outside Hong Kong will be required.
Applicants should have (i) a Master’s degree; (ii) a minimum of twelve years’ post-degree work experience, mainly in programme and resources management, student learning management and academic administration in comparable programmes of tertiary education sector in Hong Kong; (iii) the ability to listen and communicate effectively, and to maintain positive rapport with a diverse group of faculty members and students, and to support them in their teaching and learning journey; (iv) excellent interpersonal skills to interact and form lasting relationships with colleagues, faculty, students, alumni and senior business leaders; (v) demonstrated excellent team planning, managing and supporting skills to lead and collaborate with dynamic teams; (vi) the ability to work independently with minimum supervision while contributing effectively to a close-knit team environment; (vii) excellent command of written and verbal communication in English and Chinese, including Cantonese and Putonghua; (viii) active engagement in daily operational and implementation work; and (ix) commitment to work at flexible hours and weekends.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for two years commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
