Director - Press Office, CEO's Office and Central Services

Responsibilities:



  • Formulate an effective media and communications strategy to explain and promote the Commission’s values, policies and deeds.   

  • Execute the media and communications strategy on multimedia channels effectively to safeguard the reputation of the Commission.

  • Serve as a primary spokesperson and point of contact with the external media, and cultivate strong relationships with top-tier global, Mainland and local media.

    You will proactively identify and secure high-impact media opportunities to tell our story.

  • Advise and support senior executives’ media engagement and identify issues that require strategic management in advance, mapping appropriate action plan and response. 

  • Monitor media and public feedback on the Commission’s major policies , working closely with operating divisions of the Commission and counterparts of peer regulators and government. 


Requirements:



  • Extensive experience in communications; strategic lobbying and media management.    

  • Political acumen and a good understanding of the media operation and its agenda; extensive network and solid working relationship with media stakeholders. 

  • Familiarity with emerging media channels and a keen interest in exploring and leveraging these alternative channels will be an advantage.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and editing skills in English and Chinese to produce high quality press releases and communication materials; fluency in Putonghua an advantage. 

  • High level of confidence and interpersonal and communications skills to be able to work effectively with all levels within the Commission and externally, to command the respect of senior editors and key media stakeholders.

  • Prior appointments in public sector bodies, media organisations with good knowledge of Hong Kong’s political and financial sector, especially the securities and futures industry will be advantageous. 

  • Impeccable integrity and strong sense of responsibility.

  • University degree in a relevant discipline and extensive experience in communications or public relations, with a demonstrable track record in leadership roles.
