Job description

Role Introduction

Reports to: Head of Digital Workplace and Network

The Product Manager is responsible for the ownership of assigned digital workplace products (e.g., technology, platform, or service), including maximizing employee awareness, adoption and satisfaction.

The product manager fosters strong technical relationships with vendors and represents the product during design, development, testing, release, updates and ongoing lifecycle management.

The Product Manager also ensures alignment of the product with vendor and internal roadmaps, as well as project, change management and enterprise architecture processes.


This includes understanding how well business operations, application development and workplace productivity are supported by the Infrastructure platforms and services and subsequently engaging with other teams within IMT and the Business in driving improvements across a broad range of metrics, including time-to-market, cost effectiveness, reliability and performance.


The role will have significant influence on the Infrastructure strategy and roadmap and the projects to be submitted for funding.

It will also have significant accountability for the operational health and total cost-of-ownership of Infrastructure services and platforms and for the direct management and orchestration of both internal teams, external service providers and product vendors to ensure fit-for-purpose Infrastructure technology solutions are designed, built and put into production.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Direction and Standards

  • Define the product strategy and roadmap, including alignment to vendor support and product roadmaps, as well as to emerging employee use cases.
  • Consistently determine how to maximize business value from product.
  • Closely monitor vendor’s roadmap, release notes and feature sets.
  • Support the analysis of business processes and functional requirements of the product.
  • Work closely with digital workplace teammates, including the release coordinator, to identify the most impactful changes to implement and support for stakeholders, employees, and engineers.
  • Represent the product and communicate benefits to enterprise architecture, project portfolio, procurement, change management or similar teams.
  • Monitor, manage and report on usage and impact of the product within the digital workplace.
  • Assess the evolving direction of the infrastructure product and service portfolio; reviewing planned activities and major deliverables, working with managers to refine these to fulfil goals and reach needed outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architects and enterprise testing team to drive technology innovation to achieve CPA’s strategic plan and business objectives, and define Infrastructure products and standards as well as non-functional requirements
  • Collaborate with Security team to ensure infrastructure solutions are complaint with CPA security standards.
  • Collaborate with IT Solution Centres to ensure the optimal delivery of projects and ongoing operational stability of systems.
  • Infrastructure Service Ownership, Solution Formulation and Delivery

  • Design and deliver best in class and fit-for-purpose infrastructure technology solutions using both internal and external resources to design, build and implement infrastructure platforms and services on time, within budget and with good quality.
  • Plan, manage and coordinate activities of infrastructure delivery to ensure that goals or objectives of business and infrastructure projects are accomplished within prescribed time frames and funding parameters using standard products wherever possible.
  • Review and manage the infrastructure demand on skilled technology resources to determine time frames and costs for accomplishing projects and negotiate staffing requirements to various project phases.
  • Ensure project-to-BAU transition is done properly during service transition of new and changed IT infrastructure services so that infrastructure support teams are equipped with required skill, knowledge and documentation to deliver high quality second and third level support.
  • Collaborate with Service Centre Manager to ensure Service Centre agents are equipped with required skill, knowledge and document to deliver high quality first level support.
  • Human Resource Management

  • Develop, coach, mentor, motivate, and retain a team of individuals who constantly elevate the capabilities of technology systems to meet business needs through designing, implementing, maintaining and adopting the CPA IMT standard products and services.
  • Vendor Management

  • Manager external service providers and product vendors ensuring their support and maintenance services are delivered according to agreed underpinning contracts
  • Manage vendors in the delivery of cost effective and timely systems development
  • Financial Management

  • Develop and implement cost effective standard product sets for use across Cathay Pacific.
  • Manage infrastructure delivery within agreed budgets
  • Provide commentary on budget tracking on monthly basis for Finance senior management reporting
  • Requirements
  • Minimum 15 years of IT experience with at least 5 years in an Infrastructure management role or equivalent leadership experience.
  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
  • Develop and evolve cluster wide IAM domain architecture, roadmap and patterns.
  • Design and lead implementation of new IAM services for both internal and external customers with a focus on Identity Governance, Roles & Entitlement Management and Access Management
  • Define Identity and Access Management processes, e.g. Processes for Registration, Authentication, Authorisation, Delegated Access etc.
  • Develop IAM solution blueprint and solution architecture.

  • Drive the IAM platform & solution deployment process and best practices, integrate with SECOPS team for ID management.
  • Research emerging technologies in support of IAM vision.
  • Working closely and effectively across the Identity Management, Integration, Security and technical teams from agencies to deliver robust, reusable and effective solutions which can be used as a long-term basis for expansion and project delivery.
  • Broader knowledge of infrastructure, network and security architecture is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Identity & Access Management technology stack, Azure AD, Active Directory.
  • Experience in E2E solution and process design for privileged access management (PAM & PIM).
  • Experience in designing Identity Governance solutions in respects to User Access Review and Role-based Access Control in large and complex organizations.
  • 10+ years of enterprise Active Directory experience with Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS), Experience customizing and configuring Azure AD Connect and/or Identity Management Solution
  • Experience of financial management of all required infrastructure costs (people, vendors, hardware, software, services) over a budget of 100m HKD p/a.
  • Demonstrated leadership and relationship management experience and skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as ability to present and explain technical information in a non-technical way that establishes rapport, persuades others and gains understanding.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills at all management levels.
  • Proven ability to coach, motivate and develop others.
