The Faculty of Engineering of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is now seeking an outstanding candidate to contribute to an innovative research program at the intersection of artificial intelligence and scientific advancement.
This position demands a deep understanding of both the fundamental AI and its applications in the respective scientific fields.
Key areas of focus may include, but are not limited to:
Applicants should have(i) a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline; (ii) a strong research track record demonstrated by high-impact publications, patents, or other scholarly outputs; (iii) substantial experience (research, development, or both) in AI for Science and/or software frameworks for state-of-the-art AI models; (iv) demonstrated ability to engage in collaborative and cross-disciplinary research and to mentor graduate students; and (v) potential or proven ability to obtain external research funding.
Responsibilities
The appointee will be expected to (a) teach undergraduate and graduate courses in AI, and its applications in respective scientific fields; (b) establish an independent, externally funded research program in AI for Science; (c) supervise and mentor graduate students; and (d) collaborate with faculty members within CUHK and externally to advance research in AI for Science.
There will be opportunities to collaborate with leading researchers across CUHK as well as external partners, aiming to shape the future of AI and its application in various scientific fields.
Appointment(s) will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment(s) or substantiation later.
