We are presently recruiting for an Associate in the Active Equities department in our Hong Kong office.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Associate is responsible for conducting equity research as well as driving transaction execution and asset management for Asia investment opportunities, with a focus on Industrial sector.
Position Description
Analyze and communicate Investment Opportunities
Compile industry, market and asset level data and financial information to support researchBuild dynamic financial models to analyze expected returns of investment opportunities, and test assumptions and perform sensitivity analysisDevelop an in-depth understanding of sectors/companies, and identify changes in these sectors/companies that drive the value of our investments.Perform due diligence on opportunities including on company/sector financial and fundamentals, to determine investment merits and risksOutline the scope and work closely with external due diligence vendorsPerform valuation analysis on companies, including DCF, precedent transactions and relative value analysisMeet with company management and intermediaries to review past performance, strategy, outlook, industry issues, and other relevant topics as requiredDevelop forward-looking forecast led by changes in sectors/companies (such as policy changes, supply and demand changes, cost changes, etc.) and their impact on market expectationsUnder the supervision of a Managing Director and/or Portfolio Manager, generate investment recommendations outlining potential investment opportunities and risksPresent investment recommendations to internal industry-specific thought partners and management committee both in writing and orally Monitor Public Security Investments
Analyze and communicate company earnings and events that move listed share pricesMonitor ongoing financial performance of portfolio assets.
Update financial models and other analysis tools to help with communicating rationale behind change in investment viewPerforming valuation reviews for portfolio assets and develop proactive investment monitoring frameworksBuild and leverage relationships with industry participants and management teamsScreen and discover new investment opportunitiesBe a Contributing Team Player
Participate in and contribute to weekly departmental meetings and investment recommendation meetingsSupport other members on the team, as requiredCollaborate with other departments to produce impactful research workQualifications
2-5 years investment management, investment banking, or other buy-side and M&A experience focused on Asia, with direct experience working on China transactions or investmentsUndergraduate degree or equivalent in finance, economics or a related disciplineStrong research, financial modelling, analytical and valuation skills, including sensitivity analysisExcellent verbal, reading, written and presentation skills in English.
