Assistant General Manager (Merchandising & Procurement)



Job description

Responsibilities




  • Effectively lead and manage the Merchandising & Purchasing and Central Procurement teams as part of monitoring the critical path from product development to goods delivery

  • Report to the Chief Commercial Officer

  • Keep abreast of the market trend and carry out excellent customer relationship management to meet different markets’ and customers changing needs in a competitive approach

  • Set sourcing strategies for relevant countries of origin, in particular China and Vietnam, in support of new and existing product development

  • Devise innovative approach to achieve best pricing

  • Devise best-in-class and continue to improve procurement processes, and provide direction on assessing and monitoring supplier capabilities in the areas of fabric and trims

  • Support business growth strategies across customer accounts by providing insights and directions on business model based on the company’s strengths and dynamic global market situation

  • Set up sales and sourcing strategies and targets for different sales regions / customers / suppliers and to strive for meeting / exceeding the related KPIs

  • Station in Guangdong province for 4 days per week and in Hong Kong for 1 day per week

  • Occasional overseas travelling required



  • Requirements




  • Form 5 or above

  • At least 10 years’ experience at managerial level in the apparel industry

  • A mature leader, independent, pro-active, well-organised, creative, and result-oriented

  • Strong business acumen, analytical, problems solving, and negotiation skills

  • Knowledgeable and experienced in product development, sourcing, and production processes, preferably in the lingerie / swimwear areas, and European / North American experience & exposure, a definite asset

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and good command of written and spoken English and Chinese

  • Proficient in computer applications, such as MS Office / ERP system
