M+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.

This is a fixed-term contract position of 2-year with possibility for renewal subject to organisational needs and individual performance.
You will be responsible for:
- working closely with the Collection Archivist on the set up of new procedures aligning to museum /cultural institutions’ practices, actively contributing to their continuous development, influencing and engaging relevant stakeholders for buy-in;
- supporting the supervisor on the daily supervision of Archives Assistants’ work, and directly managing the work of contracted staff and interns on particular projects;
- leading and working with other M+ teams in the planning and implementation of digitisation, cataloguing, and/or exhibition projects; ensuring the projects are delivered according to agreed timeline and within budget;
- contributing to the acquisition process, supporting the assessments and the documentation of new archival acquisition proposals ;
- arranging, describing, and preserving archival collections acquired as part of the M+ Collection Archives and the Institutional Archives, including setting up cataloguing projects involving contracted staff and other museum stakeholders;
- working with Library and Archives team members on the coordination of the Archives side of the M+ Research Centre including daily operations, and proposing the development of procedures or protocols based on the operational needs of the facility; and
- Performing any other duties from time to time as reasonably assigned by M+.
You should:
- possess a recognised degree or post-graduate degree equivalent in archives or records management, library / information science with a specialisation in archives or records management;
- have at least 3-5 years of relevant experience working with archives in an archives, library or museum, or in a records management position;
- have extensive experience in the use of database systems and data standards to catalogue and manage archives
- have proven experience in the physical management of archival material, including putting in place preservation procedures and working with preservation equipment suppliers;
- have experience in managing projects, working with cross-museum stakeholders, incl.
digitisation, outreach programmes, etc; - have exposure in building relationships to ensure compliance with archives and records management procedures in a large organisation;
- be a confident self-starter with an ability to take the initiative to initiate and progress projects, while keeping the larger goals of the organisation in mind; and
- be proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese, including the ability to write and present confidently in both languages.
